Arrived at JFK airport a little after midnight, right smack in the middle of the last snow storm of the season. I had on a long-sleeved shirt, light sweater, jeans, ankle-high socks and flat-heeled walking shoes. So very little protection from that cold, cold early morning. Pushing the baggage cart towards where the car was parked, I got frightened that my ears and nose might suddenly fall off my face. Or that either one of my legs would just break off at the knee. This was my very first encounter with snow.
